An old building with a new reason to come downtown.
The 1879 puts two restaurants under one restored roof in downtown Sealy. The brick walls are original. The menus, the team and the hours are new, and we think they're a good reason to make Fowlkes Street your Friday night.

What are your hours?
The restaurant's open Monday and Tuesday from 5 to 9pm, Wednesday through Saturday from 11am to 9pm, and Sunday for brunch from 11 to 3 and dinner from 5 to 9. The pub opens at 11 Wednesday through Sunday and stays open till midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
What's the difference between the restaurant and the pub?
The restaurant's a sit-down Italian dining room. The pub next door is more casual, with pub food, TVs and a full bar. You can walk between them anytime.
Is it kid-friendly?
Yes. Kids are welcome in the restaurant anytime and in the pub until 9pm. The pub's 21 and up after 9.
Do you take reservations?
Yes. Call us at (979) 256-1595 and we'll hold a table. Walk-ins are always welcome, but we'd book ahead on weekends.
Can I order for pickup or delivery?
Yes. Order online for pickup, or have it delivered. It's quick.
Do you host private events?
We'd love to host you. Call us or email Steve at steve@the1879.com about birthdays, rehearsal dinners and group gatherings.
